Invercargill ANZAC Museum Display

Here I am at the Invercargill Museum. I have learnt that the people who heard about going to Gallipoli thought that is was going to be fun to see a different part of the world but they found they were wrong, the war had been terrible and you could be killed by guns, bombs, rats or grenades. "Loads of people had fought well and some never even returned." George Skerrett said in the video Voices of Gallipoli. I even dedicated a poppy to thank him for all he did for us.

George Skerrett is my teachers great grandfather and I read an article called Camel Meat and Corpses at school last term.  The article was about George going to Egypt and eating camel by mistake and when he got to Gallipoli there were many dead soldiers on the fields of Gallipoli.  It was a bit sad to read about all the people who died at Gallipoli.

  2. Hi Scott,
Wow! It sounds like you had an amazing time at the Invercargill Museum.
That was a great recount of what happened at the Invercargill Museum and I like how you dedicated a poppy to George Skerrett, Mrs Rolton's grandfather.
