The Silver Ferns fought hard throughout the game but in the end were beaten by the Australian Diamonds, 58-55, in Sydney.

It was the 11th time Australia have claimed the world title, their third in a row.
Australia took control from the start. Racing to a nine goal lead in the first quarter (16-7).
New Zealand fought hard, winning the remaining three quarters but the lead from the first 15 minutes was too much. The Ferns outscore the Diamonds in the third (15-13) and fourth quarters (18-15).

Leana de Bruin was introduced at half-time in her 100th international appearance for New Zealand and the defender helped the Silver.
The final three goal deficit was the closest New Zealand got to Australia during the match.
