Invercargill ANZAC Museum Display

Here I am at the Invercargill Museum. I have learnt that the people who heard about going to Gallipoli thought that is was going to be fun to see a different part of the world but they found they were wrong, the war had been terrible and you could be killed by guns, bombs, rats or grenades. "Loads of people had fought well and some never even returned." George Skerrett said in the video Voices of Gallipoli. I even dedicated a poppy to thank him for all he did for us.

George Skerrett is my teachers great grandfather and I read an article called Camel Meat and Corpses at school last term.  The article was about George going to Egypt and eating camel by mistake and when he got to Gallipoli there were many dead soldiers on the fields of Gallipoli.  It was a bit sad to read about all the people who died at Gallipoli.

Premier's ANZAC Prize 2015 Winning Entry

Jerry meet the Premier Tour group on the morning of the 25th April 2015 shortly after the closing of the dawn service.  Jerry was fortunate for the two girls in the photo to give him their ANZAC Centenary Queensland Badge. Jerry has now meet three new fur friends.

ANZAC DAY - Cross School Service at Tom Price

On Friday the 24th April students from the three Tom Price Schools (Tom Price Primary School, North Tom Price Primary School and Tom Price Senior High School) came together to honour the soldiers that fought for our country and sacrificed their lives for us during the Gallipoli Campaign in WWI.

As I was not in Tom Price and on my way to Gallipoli I await to hear from my students about their thoughts, feelings and experiences of the service held at Memorial Park.

I am very proud of the Room 5 Students that were chosen to have lead roles within the service.   Check these action shots out of the service as it unfolded!

Congratulations Room 5

I am excited to hear some Room 5 students will be representing our class and Tom Price Primary School at the combined schools ANZAC service on Friday.

On Saturday at the official Tom Price ANZAC ceremony, the laying of the wreath on behalf of the school will be Toby and Natasha.

Congratulations to you all I am very proud of you!!!

Jerry sends you his best wishes for your role on the day too! He was given some real ANZAC poppies to wear today at his authentic Turkish cheese and spinach pancake lunch, where we all sat around a table on cushions. The food was YUMMO 😊
