Remembrance
Day
On the
11th of November 2015, it was the 97th anniversary since the end of WW1. An Armistice/Peace Treaty was signed on this day 97 years ago, it is now called Remembrance Day or
Armistice Day and celebrated around the world.
To celebrate the anniversary, we had some services across the town and we all stood in silence for one minute at 11am, the rest of the country took this time to remember fallen soldiers and those who have served.
To celebrate the anniversary, we had some services across the town and we all stood in silence for one minute at 11am, the rest of the country took this time to remember fallen soldiers and those who have served.
The
main two services were at Tom Price Senior High School and another service at Tom Price Primary School. Here at Tom Price Primary School, our
very own Room 5 Hero HQ students ran the service by themselves. At the end of
the service, they got a photo taken with Jerry, our class mascot with all the poppies and wreaths in front of us.
We had some music
that was played by a Didgeridoo, The Australian National Anthem, and The Last Post. In
Flanders Fields was read along with the Ode. Everyone had a part to play
in the service, including the audience. Without them, it would have only been
Room 5 attending the service.
Thank you to Mrs Rolton and everyone who helped make this auspicious ceremony possible, we would not have achieved a memorable service without you!
